BAR TACO
If you’re looking for a cute and fun spot with city views, great drinks, and a menu that’s anything but basic, Bar Taco in downtown Jax is a solid pick. We ate at the rooftop to have a few small appetizers and it was a great experience. Here’s the full rundown!
First up: the duck wings. These were easily the highlight for me. The duck was so tender and moist it practically fell right off the bone — seriously melt-in-your-mouth good. Rich, savory, and exactly what you want when you're treating yourself to wings that feel a little elevated.
We also had the ahi tuna, topped with serrano peppers. I love a good spicy kick, and these delivered just that. The fresh tuna and spicy serrano balanced each other perfectly — a clean, bright bite with that just the right amount of heat.
Of course, no visit is complete without guac. We got the guacamole with their homemade chips and plantain chips. The guac itself was super flavorful, really fresh with nice citrusy notes. I loved the idea of serving it with both regular and plantain chips for different flavor profiles. If I’m being picky, I wish the chips were just a bit crunchier, but they still did the job of scooping up every last bit ;)
Overall, Bar Taco is one of those spots that just feels like Jax — laid back and fun but with food that shows real thought and care. It’s perfect for meeting up with friends over margaritas or for sharing a big spread of tacos/apps while soaking in that city breeze.
If you’re in Jacksonville and want something beyond your average taco joint, it’s definitely worth checking out.
